My favorite quote is from Anonymous, who seems to have written a lot of brilliant things:
"A person who has his health, has a thousand wishes; a person who does not, has but one."
Nothing is taken for granted as much as our health when is it good, and we are strong and feeling well. It is at those times that we focus on pursuing our goals, chasing our dreams and trying to attract others. And at our healthiest is when we are most likely to have the strength, stamina and radiance to make those pursuits successful.
Let one tiny thing get in the way of that, however, like a broken finger, and now we can barely hold a fork, use our key pad or shake the hand of our friend. We immediately change our busy schedule to visit the Emergency Room, and suddenly are plunged into a frightening world, where we have a 1 in 25 chance of getting a serious complication, such as an infection, a .3% chance of a medication error, and a 100% chance of a hospital bill.
An accident is only one of a thousand ways to find yourself immersed in the healthcare system. Even more than the outside world, your own life style and genetics gamble with your wellness, with age playing the ultimate trump card. So...
Lesson #1 is make your health your top priority.
Lesson #2 is if you must interact with the healthcare system, make sure it is the best interaction possible.
